Woods

Pineta in Val CordevoleParco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi is characterized by a considerable variety of woods. Although the harshness of the territory does not allow the development of vast high-trunk tree forests, like the luxuriant Caiada forest, Dolomiti Bellunesi offer the opportunity to admire a great variety of forest landscapes. The exploitation of these woods by man to meet the needs of timber for building, firewood, and other secondary products, has not compromised the charm of these environments, which in many areas achieve a high degree of naturalness. This is particularly the case of the most inaccessible areas (ravine woods, pine tree woods, and some beech woods). Woods are among the most interesting environments from a faunistic point of view, and some of these habitats, like the submontane fir woods of Val del Grisol, are of great scientific interest.
