Former Fire Station

The building of the former Fire Station, in the town center of Belluno, will be renovated, and two of its halls will house one of the Visitor Centers of Parco Nazionale Dolomiti Bellunesi. The Center will focus on two issues: the territory of Belluno and of the Park, with all its features of alpine town, and the extraordinary biodiversity which in these places still finds spaces and resources to show itself. In the first hall - after the reception, the bookshop, and the access point to the database of the Park - the visitor will see a large and particular relief model of the territory of Belluno area. The second hall focuses on biodiversity: it will not be a mere survey of the different living beings populating the Park, but a series of hints to understand the natural and human reasons of biodiversity, its precious value, and its vulnerability. It will not be a display trying to reconstruct or imitate; it will be a complementary place of the outdoor environment, and its task will be to evoke, provoke, stimulate questions, thoughts, actions, and messages.
