Corvids

RavenThey are the largest passerines. The Jay (Garrulus glandarius) is widespread in piedmont woods, but can also be found at higher altitudes. The Nutcracker (Nucifraga caryocatactes) is widespread in the Park territory, especially in conifer woods. The Magpie (Pica pica) is frequent in rural areas immediately outside the Park borders. The Alpine Chough (Pyrrhocorax graculus) is widespread throughout the Park territory, where you can observe it in groups of over one hundred units. It is linked to high-mountain habitats, but in winter it may also move to valley bottoms. The Raven (Corvus corax) is a very common species in the whole Park, where it nests especially in rocky habitats. The Hooded Crow (Corvus corone cornix) and the less common Carrion Crow (Corvus corone) occasionally visit the Park territories, as they are typical inhabitants of piedmont and hilly rural habitats.
