Prairies

Dolomiti Bellunesi were already famous in the past centuries for the floristic value of their Alpine prairies and pastures. Mountain meadows are situated near mid-altitude rural settlements, while vast pastures are present beyond the limit of the wood, characterizing with their spectacular blooms environments of great landscape value. The abandonment of traditional mowing activities is causing a progressive afforestation in areas under 1,800 meters a.s.l. Prairies and pastures are appreciated by the wildlife, which find here plenty of food.
