Dr. Stig Johansson

Dr. Johansson presently works as the Regional Director for Southern Finland at Metsähallitus, Natural Heritage Services. The Natural Heritage Services manage the state owned protected areas, which form the backbone of the PA-network in Finland. Southern Finland covers 24 national parks and about 1500 other protected areas. Dr. Johansson has a long experience from conservation and natural resources management and research in temperate and tropical conditions. He has worked more than 10 years in the tropics, mainly Kenya, Tanzania and Namibia. He is a member of the executive and steering committees of WCPA Europe. He is also the current chairman of the permanent working group for Nature, Recreation and Cultural Landscapes at the Nordic Council Ministers.
